Sacramento Police Foundation

Mission

"Building effective community partnerships to support the police and the community"...

As an independent 501(c) (3) charitable, non-profit organization, the Foundation provides the opportunities for the police department to build stronger relationships with the citizens it serves. Meaningful departmental programs that encourage employees to be their best are combined with a variety of community programs that develop closer relationships with citizens. The end result: a collaborative effort between the local communities and the police department in the shared desire for a safer city.

The Foundation provides a vehicle through which citizens and businesses can do their part to help provide the resources for programs that will enhance the ability of our men and women in blue to prevent and reduce crime while promoting dialogue between the community and law enforcement personnel. "The men and women of the Sacramento Police Department exert extraordinary effort to provide a safe environment to those they serve, but they can't do it alone. To achieve success, we must engage in open dialogue and work in cooperation with you - the community we serve."

Everyday the men and women of the Sacramento Police Department serve the community by responding to calls, making arrests, problem solving and providing customer service. These duties are part of the job and are expected by the community. But, there are many other ways our personnel contribute to our neighborhoods, such as participating in holiday giving programs, youth mentoring, Magnet school programs, visits to senior care and hospital facilities, violence prevention activities, and many more. In addition to supporting community programs, Foundation funding enables police personnel to participate in law enforcement fitness and professional activities. The Foundation also funds well-deserved awards for heroism and community service for police employees. These activities go beyond normal police duties and touch the hearts of many, but most are not funded through the City’s budget.

That is where the Sacramento Police Foundation and you can help. Since 1999, the Foundation is dedicated to developing funding for these unbudgeted activities that improve crime-prevention and law-enforcement efficiency, then putting the tax-deductible contributions to measurable work in local communities. With every program and initiative the Foundation undertakes, the opportunity is there for collaborative public safety and crime prevention promotion through education and awareness.
